Thousand Buddhas Observance
Every lunar month: days 14 (including leap months)
A monthly observance for prayer and practice dedicated to the thousand Buddhas of the present auspicious aeon, on lunar day 14.
How did it begin?
The names and dates follow the Jogye Order’s ritual reference for the ten monthly observance days, dedicated to purity and practice. Calendar reference dates include leap lunar months; actual ceremonies and leap-month practices vary by temple. Some sources instead name day 14 after Samantabhadra Bodhisattva.
