Hangeul Day in Korea
Celebrate the creation of Hangeul and its value as the Korean writing system.
How did it begin?
It began as Gagya Day, established by the Korean Language Research Society in 1926 to commemorate the proclamation of Hunminjeongeum. Renamed Hangeul Day in 1928, it has been observed in South Korea on October 9 since liberation.
