Ritual date selection

Traditional guidance for choosing a ritual date. Unlike other activities, month break or four wastes alone do not immediately mean caution; overlapping conditions are assessed separately.

What does it mean?

Only some traditional rules are used: the activity lists in Volume 11 of Xie Ji Bian Fang Shu and the day-name and influence explanations in Volume 10. Favorable conditions alone give a favorable day; any caution condition gives caution; neither gives neutral. Neutral means these rules contain no condition to judge the day as favorable or cautionary. This is a partial guide, excluding other influences, lunar-date restrictions, directions, hours and personal birth charts. It does not reproduce the complete selection or mitigation procedure.

How is it determined?

Favorable references: Heavenly virtue (天德) · Monthly virtue (月德) · Heavenly virtue combination (天德合) · Monthly virtue combination (月德合) · Heavenly pardon (天赦) · Full (滿) · Open (開). Caution references: Severe yin-yang meeting (陰陽會衝) · 寅日. Ritual is not prohibited by month break or four wastes alone. Their overlap produces caution. Universal restrictions apply without the four virtue/virtue-combination influences when month break overlaps disaster sha or monthly punishment, monthly sha overlaps level/close officers, or the specified months combine monthly punishment with level/receive officers. Monthly aversion with month break and disaster sha remains caution even with virtue combinations; 子/午-month establish-officer aversion is caution without heavenly pardon. 寅 days and the specified heavenly-dog condition also apply. The day pillar follows the device’s local date and midnight (00:00). Activity references display precomputed data using Korean Standard Time solar-term months for 2020–2050; dates outside the range are not estimated. This differs from lunar conversion support, 1000-02-13 through 2050-12-31.
