New Year’s Day in Korea
Celebrate the first day of the solar-calendar year and a fresh start.
How did it begin?
Korea began celebrating January 1 as New Year’s Day after adopting the solar calendar in 1896. It is called Sinjeong or the solar New Year to distinguish it from lunar Seollal.
